Sires
Sires are selected using eye-appraisal and stockmanship first and foremost then ensuring the sire is out of a fertile and productive dam line and lastly incorporating accurate EBV’s to give us the right balance for Sire Selection.
Firstly the most important structure start with the five things that hit the ground, four good feet and legs and a strong jaw. He has to hold a masculine head up, have plenty of length of rein , a well set shoulder to climb and ease of calving. We like to see a big spring and depth of rib with a strong spine. He has to display width and length of hindquarter but overall be balanced between his front, middle and hind. Lastly must have good bone, coat and softness of skin.
Within the stud we will not use any stud sires that haven’t had their Genomics analysed, because without Genomics the EBVs can be significantly different and inaccurate.
