Sudeley Genetics was established in 1993, derived by a passion for quality hill country stock, phenotype and pedigree. 

Sudeley Angus & Sheep genetics breeding stock are entirely farmed at “Springvale”, Banks Peninsula. 

Springvale is 2500 acres of steep hill country, ranges from 30m-1000m in altitude, all native pastures, no developed country and no supplementary feed.

Our main breeding emphasis is on our cow herd & ewe flock, in my opinion it all starts and stops with the dams, the engine room as I like to call it! and tells the story for any breeding programme.

Our females are a herd of strong, good boned, deep bodied cows with great feet and heavy coats coupled with a respectful temperament and worked with horses and dogs throughout their lifetime at Springvale. They have to compete with sheep and navigate the steep terrain, snow prone winters and dry summers and are expected to perform and produce year in year out. Through environmental and production pressures eventually the cream rises to the top and that forms a strong foundation of 350 stud Angus cows, 800 recorded Romdale, Texel & Suftex ewes and 5000 commercial Romdales. All up 14000 stock units, we sell 120 Angus bulls annually via our 2yo and yearling bull sales and 300 Romdale, Texel & Suftex rams are sold privately from November- January.
